The ANCEL AD310 is deliberately a one-trick scanner, and that's its appeal: plug it into the OBD2 port and it reads the check-engine code, shows a plain-English definition on its backlit screen, and clears it — no batteries, no phone app, no subscription. One reviewer timed reading and clearing a code at under a minute. The trade-offs are firm boundaries, not fine print: it talks only to the engine computer, so ABS, airbag and transmission codes are invisible to it, and there's no software-update path for future coverage. It does include live data and emissions-readiness checks, which is unusual at this price. As a glovebox tool that answers "why is my check-engine light on," it's hard to outspend usefully.
