A cigarette-lighter USB-C adapter is one of those parts where a small detail decides whether you actually get fast charging. The LISEN USB-C Car Charger Adapter supports USB Power Delivery, which means an iPhone or Android phone can pull a rapid charge on the highway — but only if you pair it with a USB-C to USB-C (or C to Lightning) cable; plug in an old USB-A cable and it quietly falls back to slow charging. The low-profile body sits close to flush with the 12V socket, which looks tidy and keeps it clear of shifters and knees, though flush designs are also harder to grip when you need to pull them back out. At under ten dollars it is a low-risk way to bring an older car's charging up to date.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special cable to fast-charge with this adapter?
Yes. USB Power Delivery only negotiates over a USB-C connection, so use a USB-C to USB-C cable (or USB-C to Lightning for older iPhones). A USB-A cable with an adapter will charge, but at standard slow speeds.
Does it fit any vehicle's 12V socket?
It plugs into the standard 12V cigarette-lighter socket found in virtually all cars and trucks. Note that in many vehicles the socket only powers on with the ignition, so the charger stops feeding power when the car is off.
