How they compare to Mighty Patch and other rivals

Ingredient-wise there's nothing exotic here: it's the same 100% hydrocolloid as Mighty Patch, COSRX, and Peach Slices dots. Independent reviewers who've tested them side by side, like Beautiful With Brains, conclude that Starface's layer is thinner than those competitors', so it absorbs somewhat less per patch and part of what you're paying for is the design and packaging. The Summer Study's tester reached a similar verdict — effective on surfaced spots, weaker adhesive than rival brands — while still repurchasing for how the stars destigmatize acne. For deep, early-stage bumps that haven't surfaced, both reviewers point to microdart patches as the better tool.

The honest downsides

The recurring complaint across Ulta and Target reviews is adhesion and thinness. Even after the '2x stickier' reformulation, some Ulta buyers report the patches are 'SUPER thin,' 'don't absorb very much,' and 'fall off really easy,' and a Target reviewer says stars fall off 'within 5 minutes.'
